Alex led an exceptional 8-hour virtual organizing training for Safer Foundation staff and the Illinois Alliance for Reentry & Justice Steering Committee. The training helped our team to develop their own unique approaches to connect and motivate others looking to make substantive impacts in the quality of life for people with arrest and conviction records. Because of Alex's deep and proven knowledge about organizing teams and campaigns, we are better prepared to create authentic impact and advocate for changes to make the criminal legal system fair and just for all.

Alex helped us understand better our sources of community power, validated our knowledge that community members are experts, that BIPOC communities already have the capacity to offer important feedback into solutions via their own lived experiences and how to face and conquer the barriers we encountered when working with public officials.
Because of what I learned in the 4-week training, not only am I better able to support the efforts of our coalition but also have been able to create a community-led advisory group at work, speak up on behalf of underserved communities at countless meetings and have felt empowered to stand up for marginalized communities in an effective and productive way. Thank you so much for all your help and advice, Alex.

Alex's training was what launched me into effectively organizing my congregation and then creating the statewide organization I now lead. Over the years, coaching from Alex and others has helped keep me on track with foundational organizing principles and the importance of power. It has sharpened both my thinking and my skills to deal with ever-changing situations. And it has always brought me back to that fundamental question: What am I building?
